| Equalization |
This office has on record the values of all
real estate property in Brookings County, It is their duty to determine
the value of this property so that the taxable value can be set-then the

| Highway Department |
This office is responsible for maintenance
and construction on all county roads and bridges, to include the purchasing
and maintaining of all equipment for this purpose. Brookings County
maintains 220 bridges and 394 miles of county roads, 133 miles of gravel
roads, and 261 miles of hard surfaces roads. The Highway superintendent
is appointed by the county commission. |

| Human Resources |
This office is responsible for the human
resource activities of the county to include: recruitment, assisting with
the interview process, developing employment practices to comply with applicable
employment laws, personnel policy administration, updating of job descriptions,
consulting on salary and benefits administration, plus other personnel
duties as assigned by the Commission. |

This office keeps all the legal records concerning
property in the county. They also preserve marriage licenses, birth
records, death records, burial records, and military records for Brookings
